Pvt Edward L. McDuffie attended high school for four years before he enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 1 October 1943.He was fatally wounded when a pistol, that he kept as a souvenir, accidently went off.
He is also remembered at the West End Cemetery in West End, Moore County, North Carolina.
His brother, Albert G. McDuffie, is buried next to him.
