Sgt Laverne C. Leggett attended high school for four years before he enlisted in Sacramento, California, on 3 February 1943.During the evening of 30 January, the Battalion CP at Schlierbach received a heavy shelling, which killed Sgt Laverne Leggett and Pfc John Bower. Nine others were wounded.
