More information

Pvt Robert G. Hilton graduated from Ogden High School in 1940 and attended Weber College.

He enlisted in Salt Lake City, Utah on 23 December 1942.

Pvt Hilton had served with his unit since D-Day.

The 81st AAA Battalion consisted partly of anti-tank and of anti-aircraft batteries. Pvt Hilton served as a gunner with a anti-tank battery.

He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Luxembourg Cemetery on 3 February 1945. Most likely his remains couldn't be evacuated from the place of his death earlier due to the fact that the area was under enemy control.

After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 25 January 1949.
