Pfc Roy J. Hewitt graduated in 1943 from Templeton High School in Massachusetts.He enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 6 July 1943. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied civil engineering at College of Puget Sound in Oregon. When the program was abandoned, he was transferred to Camp Cook, California. He was sent overseas in October 1944.
Pfc Hewitt is remembered at Greenlawn Cemetery in Templeton, Worcester County, Massachusetts with a memorial marker.
