Pvt Reuben E. Ahlen was married to Louise Carol Jewett on 25 May 1940 and he operated the Grand View Hotel in Phillips.

He enlisted on 7 January 1944 and received his training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Camp Phillips, Kansas.

He is also remembered at the Hillside Cemetery in Ogema, Price County, Wisconsin.
