Pfc Elmer H. Welser employed by the Chrysler Co. in Detroit.

He enlisted in Detroit on 25 March 1941. He received basic training at Fort Custer. In February 1942, he was sent to Iceland, where he spent 19 months. He was then transferred to England and later to Ireland, where he remained about 6 months.

He was one of four brothers in the armed forces. Sgt Clarence Welser served in Belgium, Cpl Walter Welser in France and George Welser in the Merchant Marine on the Atlantic Ocean.
