Pfc Rollin J. Van Buren worked on a farm before he joined the National Guard in Salem, New Jersey on 16 September 1940. He was sent overseas in September 1944.He died in a field hospital to the effects of artillery shell fragments in his leg.
Two of his brothers, Austin and William, served in the Pacific.
