1st Lt Herbert O. Shaw attended Oklakoma A & M College for four years and was an agriculture statistician at the city of Oklahoma before he enlisted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 23 June 1942.

He is also remembered at the Arnold Cemetery in Arnold, Custer County, Nebraska.
