2nd Lt Thomas F. Zinn graduated from Burnsville High School where he was an all-sports star.

He received a football scolarship for the University of Kentucky where he graudated with a degree in Education in 1942.

Immediately after graduation Lt. Zinn was called to active duty on 29 May 1942 and participated in the ROTC program.

Lt Zinn was killed while on patrol when hit by German machine gun fire. Lt Zinn and his Sergeant were killed instantly and buried near the farmhouse where they fell.
