Sgt Lee Stafford enlisted in Camp Dodge Herrold, Iowa on 21 December 1942 and was transferred to the enlisted reserve corps the same date. He reported for active duty 28 December 1942 and left the United States for foreign service 5 September 1943.

He attended high school for 2 years and was an electrician before he enlisted.
