The tank, in which Cpl Holub was a crew member, was knocked out by anti-tank fire on 30 December 1944 in Longleir, Belgium. Another crew member, Pfc John Spero, was killed instantly. He is remembered at Ardennes Cemetery.

Cpl Holub died in a hospital. The exact location is not known.
