More information

Pfc Grijalva was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his action of which this story excists:
When Jerry machine gun and rifle fire from the house ahead held up the advance of their company, Pvts Robert E. LeMay, Prospect, Ohio and Tony H. Grijalva. San Elizarie, Texas, decided to do something about it. The two 44th Division dough-feet crawled forward directly toward the house, despite frenzied fire from the Nazis inside.
Then they jumped up, dashed inside and with three fast shots knocked over the Krauts at the machine gun. The Germans in the next room decided enough was enough, and all the nine marched out with hands high. The division commander decided that added up to a Silver Star for each of them.
