Pfc Henry H. Chan was employed at the Yellow Jacket Sport Shop before he enlisted in San Francisco, California on 22 October 1942.While the regiment was on rest and recreation in Sissonne, France Pfc Chan was killed in an accident when the vehicle he was in, overturned.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Champigneul, France.
