Cpt Herman L. Jacobius enlisted in New York.Capt Jacobius was in the battalion aid station when he was killed during a German air attack.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
His father established the Herman L. Jacobius Prize in Pathology at the Weill Cornell Medical College in 1945 in memory of his son. The prize is awarded to the student in the third or fourth year class, who, in the opinion of the Department of Pathology, merits recognition for the highest scholastic attainment and outstanding performance in pathology.
