Sgt. Sperlazzo attended West Wyoming High School and was employed by Lehigh Valley Railroad before he enlisted on 7 December 1943. He was sent overseas in August 1944.

His wife died in childbirth on 6 November 1942.

On one photo he poses with his sister Josephine and his daughter Lillian, shortly before he was deployed overseas.
