Pfc Roy M. Shaeffer graduated from Amanda High School in 1925 and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He was employed at Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation.He enlisted in Columbus, Ohio on 30 March 1943.
His brother, Sgt. William H. Shaeffer, was killed in line of duty at Camp Robinson, Arkansas.
