Emile Minerault was a cook before he enlisted on 19 May 1942 at Fort Jay Governors Island, New York.

1st Lt Minerault worked with Erwin Deman, an SOE officer responsible for the establishment and operation of the VAR escape line in occupied France in 1943 and 1944.

Minerault was aka Peter Archibald JONES.

A few weeks before D-Day, he and Raymond Langard, a VAR's radio operator were arrested by the Gestapo. Minerault died on the 4 March 1945 in Nordhausen concentration camp in Germany.
