T/5 Wesley H. Hammond attended Wilmington High School.

He employed in the photo-film department of the DuPont Company when inducted. Previously he had been employed for a number of years at Glanding's food market.

He enlisted in Camden, New Jersey on 21 June 1943 and was sent overseas in January 1944.

He was killed by an artillery shell.
