Sgt John R. Kuzma had been credited with the capture of several Nazi prisoners before his death.
A native of Cicero, Sgt Kuzma attended Cicero Grade School and Morton High School.
He entered the Army in May 1944 and received his training at Camp Blanding, Florida, leaving for overseas in December 1944.

Sgt John R. Kuzma was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium.
