Jack E. Day worked in the family laundry.He joined the Regular Army at Fort Riley, Kansas on 23 October 1940.
On 31 October 1944, he and his wife suffered the stillbirth of a son.
He died from a concussion and wounds caused by a high explosive shell.
Together with seven other American soldiers, Cpl Day was initially buried in Tavigny, Belgium, in a meadow next to the castle in the town center.
He was reinterred at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Foy, Belgium before he was given his final resting place at Henri-Chapelle in 1949.
