Spencer W. Cook graduated from Santa Fe High School and from Branham Hughes M.A.

He took an Pilot-Observer Course between 16 December 1941 and 7 March 1942. Before entering the service he was an order clerk at Sherwin Ailliam Pt. Company in Nashville, then was an electrician in Du Pont Cellaphan Plant in Tennessee and between 1936 and 1941 served as a paymaster and Bank teller.

In 1942 he had his initial training at Belleville, Ontaria followed by elementary traniing at St. Eugene, Ontario and Service Flying Traing at Uplands, Ontorio. He received his wings on 16 April 1943.

He served with the National Guard in Spring Hill, Tennessee for 6 1/2 years, the ROTC for 2 years and was an engineer in Nashville.
