Pfc John P. Cottingham graduated from Central High School in 1943.He enlisted on 26 June 1943 in Omaha, Nebraska. He initially started with the ASTP but when that disbanded he moved into the replacements.
Pfc Cottingham is remembered at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha, Nebraska.
