1st Lt Everett W. Loomis graduated from Bellingham High School in 1938 and attended the Washington State University at Pullman, Washington for thee years.

He enlisted in Tacoma, Washington on 10 June 1942.

Lt Loomis will be remembered as the tallest serviceman at the time of his enlistment in 1942. At 6'7", he was rejected by a local recruiter in Bellingham as "being over size". He was determined to enter the service and went to Seattle where a recruiter with a shorter tape measure passed him.

The battalion S-3 and all other passengers and crew of glider #45-6186 were killed when the airplane was hit and set on fire while landing.
