More information

Pfc Paul G. Dusick attended Hazle Township High School and employed at the Duplan Corp. in the slashing department.

He enlisted in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania on 17 July 1943.

Pfc Dusick was awarded the Silver StarMedal. The citation reads: For gallantry in action as on automatic rifleman of Company G, 353rd Infantry on 16 April 1945 near Knottengrund, Germany. His squad was crossing an open field when it was subjected to intense automatic weapons and small arms fire from enemy positions 30 yards to the front. On his own initiative, Pfc Dusick continued to advance firing his automatic rifle to divert the enemy's attention so that his comrades could reach advantageous firing positions. With accurate burst he killed one German before hostile fire fatally wounded him. His boldness, courage, determination and devotion to duty at the cost of his life enabled his comrades to regroup and overcome the enemy resistance and were in keeping with the best traditions of the armed forces of the United States.
