T/5 Demetrio M. De Bellis graduated from Hazleton High School in June 1936 and was employed by the Symington-Gould Corporation.He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 18 March 1943 and was stationed at Camp McCall in North Carolina. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
He had two other brothers in the Army. Salvatore, who was reported wounded in action in New Guinea in 1943 and Sgt Elvidio, serving at Fort Houston, Texas.
T/5 De Bellis was initially buried in a temporary grave at Margraten on 28 March 1945. He was given his final resting place on 12 January 1949.
