Lt Wade H. Butler Jr. was the former manager of the Tivoli Theater in Chattanooga. He also had been an instructor at Greenville, Army Airfield.

The glider landed safely and Lt Butler joined the airborne troops in attacking enemy ground forces located nearby. After a few minutes an enemy mortar shell fell among the US troops killing Lt Butler and wounding F/O Hoyt.
