Pvt James C. Coslett enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio on 7 April 1943.

He was wounded in action and taken prisoner on 3 January 1945 during the attack on Houyire's Hill, 0,5 miles south west of Baugnez, Belgium. He died in a lazarette in Germany. The exact place is unknown.
