More information

T/Sgt Harry C. Bryer enlisted in February, 1941 and was overseas in September 1943.

He was taken prisoner and died in Stalag IV-B

His wife had received a letter written by an English soldier, Pvt W. G. Leslie, who had returned home. His letter stated that T/Sgt Bryer had died. It stated: "It is with deepest sympathy I tender this letter to you. Harry was a sick man suffering from dysentery in my charge. We managed to get him into a German hospital with 90 other men and everything was done that was possible. He died peaceful during the first week of March. I handed all particulars to my senior officer and presume by now, you have been informed by the War Office. His personal kit was left with him for transportation to America. I promised all the boys in my charge if anything happened I would write their parents personally. Once more accept my sincerest sympathy."
